You may not believe me
You may say I’m a fool,
But I’m telling the truth,
There’s a banshee at school!

It screams at the teachers
It upsets the girls
If you’re standing too close
It will make your hair curl!

At lunch the floor trembles
The windows vibrate
All the children eat quickly
No one dares to stay late.

But would you believe
What creates this disaster?
Such loud high-pitched wailing,
Comes from our Headmaster!

There’s gum on my shoe
And it’s causing me grief
It was glued to the floor
Now it’s stuck underneath
The sole of my shoe
And it clicks when I stride
So I limp round the school
As I favour one side.
It wouldn’t remove
When scraped on the ground
It attached to the grooves
Of my shoe I have found
When I prised with a stick
It stretched in long strands
I gave a desperate flick
Now it’s stuck to my hands!
And so I consider
That although gum is cool
I know perfectly well
Why they ban it from school!
